In conjunction with Beaford Arts, we bring you The Fleet - a double bill of silent film with live music and spoken word. The evening's programme is as follows:
Seiners (premiere) with Sarah Acton + Becki Driscoll (20 mins) Weaving ghostly fragments of the south west seine fishing heritage alongside atmospheric visuals by Common Ground, landscape writer Sarah Acton and local guest musician Becki Driscoll present LIVE this newly commissioned spoken word and musical work Seiners. Interval Drifters (1929) with Jason Singh (approx. 50 mins) Sound artist, nature beatboxer and composer Jason Singh performs his LIVE soundtrack to John Griersons monumental silent black and white documentary film from 1929, Drifters. Drifters follows North Sea herring trawlermen through their dramatic daily routines as well as the industrys struggles between tradition, modernity, and nature.
